CULP provides cadets the opportunity to spend up to three weeks immersed in foreign cultures, learning more about how other around the world view the U. The Army recognizes the need for young leaders to develop more cultural awareness and foreign language proficiency skills. Now more than ever, cultural awareness training is a vital component to the ROTC curriculum.
Overseas immersions help educate future leaders in ways the classroom cannot. Cadets now have the opportunity to compete for immersion in more than 20 countries.
These opportunities expose them to everyday life in different cultures and intensifies language study, which helps produce commissioned officers who possess the right blend of language and cultural skills required to support global operations in the 21st Century. Participants experience up to three different venues during immersion, including host nation military-to-military exchange, humanitarian service, and education on the social, cultural and historical aspects of the country.
Cadet Command sent Cadets and cadre to 26 different countries supporting Combatant Command security cooperation lines of effort. These cadets receive an OER at completion. This training is only available to nurse cadets and provides opportunities to develop and practice a clinical phase of instruction at Army Medical Command Treatment Facilities worldwide.
The cadets receive an OER upon completion. Only one cadet will be selected to work with the ASB unit for approximately 38 days. This is a three-phase internship program. In , Congress expanded the program to all military services and changed from active duty to shared support from the services and schools.
As congressionally mandated by Title 10 United States Code, Section , each military service must have a JROTC program to "instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, and personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.
Since , the U. JROTC curriculum provides equitable and challenging academic content and authentic learning experiences for all Cadets. All lessons are designed using a four part model to motivate the Cadet, allow the Cadet to learn new information, practice competency, and apply the competency to a real-life situation. Moreover, the four part model requires Cadets to collaborate, reflect, develop critical thinking skills, and integrate content with other disciplines.
Army Air Assault School is a day course designed to prepare Soldiers for insertion, evacuation, and pathfinder missions that call for the use of both transportation and assault helicopters. Air Assault training focuses on the mastery of rappelling techniques and sling load procedures, skills that involve intense concentration and a commitment to safety and preparation. This is a competitive school, and cadets must prove their physical capability through tryouts prior to being selected for a slot.
Airborne is a three-week course designed to teach cadets how to parachute from an aircraft and land safely on the ground.
